Excessive Heat Warning Issued by the National Weather Service by Talbot County Emergency Services (DES) on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 4:00pm

Excessive Heat Warning:
NWS Mt Holly has issued an Excessive Heat Warning which is in effect from noon on Thursday (7/21) until 8PM on Saturday (7/23)...

Excessive Heat Warning Means:
A prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely.

Recommendations:
Recognizing this potential it is recommended that those with pre-existing medical conditions such as Asthma, Respiratory illness, Heart Conditions, etc… should use extra caution and attempt to stay out of the sun, remain in air conditioned areas if possible, and drink plenty of fluids (avoid fluids high in sugar). It is also recommended that generally persons should attempt to limit their exposure to the sun, wear light colored clothing, drink plenty of fluids, check on the welfare of the elderly, protect very young children from the heat as they can adversely react quickly, and do not leave children or animals in parked vehicles. In structures remain on lower levels to combat the higher temperatures in the building from the rising heat, if you do not have air conditioning visit shopping stores or public facilities.

• St. Michaels Community Center, 103 Railroad Ave., St. Michaels, Wed-Fri, 10AM to 3:30PM
• Trinity Church Miller Hall, 315 Goldsborough St., Easton, Sat 10AM to 6PM
• Talbot County Free Library, 28712 Glebe Road, Easton, Md. Thurs-Fri 9AM to 5PM Sat 9AM to 1PM
• Talbot County Free Library, St. Michaels Branch Thurs 10Am-7PM, Fri 10AM to 5PM Sat 10AM to 1PM
• Talbot County Free Library Tilghman Branch Thurs 3PM-8PM, Friday 10AM to 6PM
• Talbot County Health Department, 100 South Hanson Street, Easton, Md. Thurs-Fri 5-8PM, and (Sunday 10 -8PM)
