Talbot County Hazard Mitigation Plan
The Talbot County Hazard Mitigation Plan 2011 which has been adopted by Talbot County and the Towns of Easton, Oxford, Saint Michaels, Trappe, and Queen Anne provides valuable planning information regarding identified hazards. The effort to draft this plan was co-chaired by the Talbot County Department of Emergency Services and the Talbot County Department of Planning and Zoning with committee members representing municipalities in Talbot County as well as others. The Talbot County Hazard Mitigation Plan has been developed to identify and rank hazards with a look toward implementing efforts to mitigate or reduce the threats in advance. Mitigation is a key component to any Comprehensive Emergency Management program. It is the first phase in the emergency planning process which includes Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. Once hazards are identified, plans are developed to address potential means to mitigate their impact to a community.
